Why we like learning about STEM!

"I like learning about STEM because I believe it is the future. I enjoy Math and Science subjects in school, and have always enjoyed learning new things in STEM areas." ~Michael K.

"I like learning new things in STEM because I like to learn new technologies and I like to be able to know interesting things about science. I also like math and figuring things out." ~Luke K.

"I like learning about STEM because it has opened up a lot of doors for me. I also like the way it challenges me in new unexpected ways. I like to learn about new technologies, since thats a big part of our generations daily lives." ~Alex G.

"I like learning about STEM because the more I know the easier it is to teach, and I really love teaching people about STEM. I love seeing the look on peoples faces when they discover something for the first time and there are no limits to what they can achieve." ~Jenn W.

Molokai Mahina 2.0

The Molokai Mahina MoonBots team is back and better than ever! After last years competition, which was definitely a learning experience, we have decided to take what we learned and put a team together to tackle the Google Lunar X Prize MoonBots 2.0 challenge.

This year we have two returning members on our team; Alex Gilliland and Michael Kikukawa have returned to lead the team and share their experiences from last year and our two new team members Luke Kikukawa and James Duffy, who are eager to get involved and learn new things.

We have been working extra hard to meet the requirements for Phase 1 of the competition. Phase one includes successfully registering and submitting all required paperwork, taking a team picture, setting up a website and blog, creating a one page robot design proposal and a 4 minute STEM related video. Our deadline for Phase 1 is June 13, but we need to wrap things up sooner because one of our team members is traveling to Washington D.C. for the National History Day competition on June 10.

Check back here often as we will be updating frequently and posting our work for your viewing pleasure.
